Travelling Around Bournmouth

By Poppy Hill

Having spent many a family summer holiday in the south of England along the Bournemouth area of the coast line. I would highly recommend this area to families, couples and young people. There is plenty to do for everyone whether you are a sports fantastic or just want some peace and quiet along the Dorset coastline.

A glorious sandy beach which starts here and ends at the end of Southbourne can be walked by beach lovers or take a small tourist train which travels hourly along the promenade. In the summer there are a lot of exchange students living here due to the number of English schools available to them. Making the area more of a cosmopolitan feel to the area. A number of tourist sites to visit in the area is Alume Chimes, Boscombe for the surfing and the Bournemouth gardens.

Along the coast visitors will find the fishing port or Poole which can be easily be reached by public transport or your rental car. Try a day out at the Poole pottery where you paint a pot or purchase some of the great designs on display. There is a lovely harbour and quayside with lots to do during the summer months such as a fire work display and street events. Head over to the park where there is plenty to keep the youngsters amused all day.

Across the bay from Poole you can hop on a ferry for quickness over to Swanage. This is a pretty little village with a Victorian style prom and lots of little amusements for the children which you can find at the front of the seaside.

As the coast line is diverse you can experience any number of different activities to suit your party. A visit to the New Forest may be of interest to you or the many themes parks in the area or perhaps a train ride to Brighton or London may be on your agenda. There will be something for everyone in this area.
