Places To Visit In Scotland

By Poppy Hill

Everyone around the world has some connection to Scotland whether they were educated here in Glasgow or have relatives who have since moved away. No matter the reason everyone appears to love coming over to visit the countryside and perhaps take in a few rounds of golf while they are over here on vacation.

The capital city Edinburgh is a fantastic place to visit especially in August when the fringe festival is on throughout the city in different venues. The shows are covered by local radio hosts who themselves started off in the humble Edinburgh Fringe. There is also a Military Tattoo which is live each day from the castle for a few weeks during this month.

The capital has many attractions which include the castle. Here you can enter many rooms which are now fully restored for the public to view and visit. They will take you back to the dark days of the Scottish history and are interesting to read about in the castle's lay out. You may be privy to the Destiny Stone history's and wish to have your photograph taken beside the stone or in other rooms.

Perhaps Stirling is your choice of venue for your tour of Scotland. A little over 30 minutes from the city centre by rental car will see you in the fabulous town of Stirling which is steeped in history from William Wallace's time. Why not visit the tower or the castle or venture out to see Bannock burn and all Robert the Bruce's haunts.

After visiting the cities you may to consider visiting some of the lochs around the north of Scotland. Perhaps a visit to the scary Loch Ness and wish for the monster to appear before you so you can take that all exclusive photo and start the story telling again. Close to the Loch you will be able to visit the battle of Culloden and Inverness.

There are many other cities and towns in the countryside which are worth visiting they include Glasgow, Perth and and perhaps St Andrew's for golf. You will not be far from any of them after flying into the country and then head over to them on your rental car.
