London Visitor Options

Planning your first trip to London can be an exciting event to look forward too. There is so much to see in this city that never sleeps between historic sights and shows and evenings out in bars and clubs you will be hard pushed to see everything on your first visit.

The City Airport has direct public links into the city itself either by bus or the DLR network which is a light railway network which offers a speedy way into the centre. No need to panic about tickets for the train as they can be purchased after you have landed but before you board the train.

Wondering how you will manage to travel around the big city then try the underground. The city has a great metro system which reaches all around the inner part of London as well as connecting you with the outer suburbs. Travellers can purchase a daily , weekly or monthly ticket depending on how long you will be staying in the city. The underground has lots of maps for you to take away and study or if you have a smart phone you can search the web for your journey planner.

You may be tempted to walk and view as many sites as you can. This is fine if you only have a small area to cover but as the city is huge you will be better off on the underground as this is a quick and easy way around the centre. There are plenty of buses which are frequent and regonsible by the bright red colour. Tickets can be purchased by inserting coins into a machine which is situated at the bus stops. Remember that the buses may be slow around the inner part of the city around the tourist sights due to the amount of traffic on the roads.

Generally visitors make an effort and attend at least one west end show during their stay in the city. Anyone wishing to book early and receive a discount off their seating can use a number of different websites and either have their tickets delivered to their house or for collection at the theatre around one hour before the show starts. Another option is to wait until you arrive and search the theatres for any last minute tickets.

Head down to the South Bank area of the Thames where you can sit back and enjoy your coffee while taking in the sights like the London Eye, Sea Life or venture out to Knights bridge area and see Harrods of Hyde Park area.

You can also look out for vouchers and discounts on entry to the main attractions or try and visit some of the museums which are free to enter.
