I worked endlessly in broccoli farms to be able to afford the trip. 12 hours a day and 7 days a week working on farms in the middle of nowhere - do that and you'll have no problem saving money and booking a trip to Antarctica. My trip cost me around $5,000 Australian Dollars and that was a special offer but that is actually NOT the way to book it on the cheap - I booked my trip in advance.
How to do Antarctica for cheap?
Bear in mind this is a tip for travellers and backpackers only - not for workers or scientists etc. Waiters, barmen, captains and expedition staff can of course all go to Antarctica and work at the same time but you want to be doing it as a backpacker.

It makes sense for travel companies, agents and tour groups to have remarkably high prices for these trips and they do! The cheapest tour you will get to Antarctica by booking in advance is probably around $4,000 US and it will be one of the shorter trips. Perhaps only 5 days on the actual continent and 2 days there and 2 days back. That in itself is good but you have it booked already. If you want to do Antarctica on the cheap, don't book anything. That's the first step.

OK now the nest step is easy - head to Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego in October. It's on the south tip of Argentina and all the Antarctica trips leave from there. Spend a few days in the city itself - it's a great city to travel round. Keep your eyes open for special offers from the many travel agents on the main street. Then pop in and book your cheap trip to Antarctica! You could be leaving the very next day and for very cheap!
So the really good news is if you book a last minute deal to Antarctica in the city of Ushuaia you will get ir really cheap - as cheap as $3,000 US if you're lucky! An amazing deal that's a saving of around $2,000 US Dollars.

But the companies want the money for those empty beds and rooms so they reduce the price in a vain attempt to get some more money at the last minute. This is where you are in luck as you book your cheap trip to the cold continent!
So the main advice here is you need to arrive in Ushuaia and get a cheap trip booked there and then just before one leaves. You'll only have to wait for a short number of days. Antarctica is a travellers dream and you can really cut your costs by following my tip. You will just love it!
