By Jozy Mozen

When looking for a home that you will feel safe staying in for a long time Boca Raton Florida is a safe city to consider. The agencies in charge of fire control and crime solving have created and maintain an excellent reputation for making this one of the best cities to live in. Both the police and fire departments have partnered with the citizens and volunteers to ensure peaceful living.

The overall crime rate in this city is lower than the average rate not only in the the state but also nationwide. There have been no homicides in the city for two years and prior to that only four in the previous three years. The other areas of their crime report show the same low levels of occurrence. This can be attributed to two factors that make the police department superior to many others.

The extensive training given to the officers is a large contributing factor for the level of success enjoyed by the police department. Continued education is also a major part of their job description and helps keep them abreast of new techniques and equipment that is available to assist them. These two things combined with community response to specific programs provide very good results.

The police department partners with the entire community and other law enforcement agencies in a program named VIPER. This program uses the latest technology to blanket the city with a means to identify and resolve any situation quickly and efficiently. VIPER stands for visibility, intelligence, partnerships, education and resources. Combined they work to keep streets safe and people informed and alert to possible problems they may encounter.

The Volunteer Forces are trained in various duties that help support the police in their jobs and the Viper program combines all of the technology and skills available with Community, other police agencies, local businesses and education to enhance the success of the mission. They have installed cameras on streets to help survey and identify trouble if it erupts.

Fire and rescue departments are also very involved with the community. A special team puts together and presents safety programs for schools and private organizations. They try to highlight smoke and carbon monoxide detectors as well as other potential fire hazards to groups of people. They also advise people of medical dangers such as falls in seniors or securing cupboards from access by babies.

With eight fire stations spread out across the city the citizens can be assured of a very fast response regardless of what the problem may be. Each station houses an EMS unit that acts as a first responder for medical emergencies. They usually arrive ahead of the ambulance and begin emergency treatment when necessary. There are nineteen EMS units available and seven of them are able to transport victims. Each vehicle is manned by two people with paramedical training to assist in even the largest disasters such as hurricanes.

There are one hundred ninety two police officers in this city and that number is just a fraction of the people who are committed to keeping the city's streets and businesses safe for it's citizens. The fire department is comprised of over two hundred certified professionals in the fire department. Each one of them has medical training as paramedics or certified medical technicians. This city has created an efficient and concise system of keeping their citizens safe regardless of what direction a crisis may come from.
