Married In Maui: The Best Places For Wedding Ceremonies

By Ella Hemmings

If you could choose the most romantic place on earth to marry, Maui would definitely be at the top of the list. With spectacular ocean vistas, amazing tropical scenery and unbelievable sunsets, there is no finer backdrop for your wedding day and even your honeymoon. When it comes to planning a wedding on the island of Maui, there are literally dozens of wonderful venue options to consider, and here are just a few of the interesting options.

If you need to accommodate a large party of guests, it might be best to consider hosting a wedding at a plantation, a Maui resort or perhaps at another location that can accommodate a larger number of guests. For instance, the Maui Tropical Plantation is an excellent venue, and the grounds are stunning. The Garden Gazebo is often the site of weddings, and this structure overlooks the emerald lagoon. The plantation is equipped to accommodate very large weddings for both the ceremony and the reception.

Spread among six acres of fragrant grounds, the Kula Botanical Garden is another excellent option for brides and grooms to consider. There are two gazebos which can be used for smaller weddings, and the main lawn can hold about 150 guests, so it is ideal for larger wedding parties. Another scenic choice might be the historic Cliff House, which rests alongside Namalu Bay. The scenery is stunning, and there is enough room for about 30 people to enjoy your ceremony.

Of course, many people wish to be married right on the beach. This is definitely a romantic choice, but just keep in mind that beach ceremonies are typically easier to plan and more appropriate if you have a limited number of guests. Not only can you enjoy a beach ceremony, but you can also have the complete Hawaiian experience with Hawaiian musicians and perhaps even a traditional hula dancer.

The biggest obstacle you have to overcome is choosing on which amazing beach you wish to hold the ceremony. For a private, intimate vow ceremony, consider the secluded Makena Cove or perhaps opt for a sunset ceremony at Po'olenalena Beach. Napili Bay is yet another option that is typically quiet and less crowded than many Maui beaches. Other choices include Honomanu Bay or Ironwoods Beach, both of which have their own unique scenery. Honomanu Bay is surrounded by a variety of lush greenery, while Ironwoods offers a long quarter-mile pristine beach with sparkling waters.

Hiring a professional wedding planner can make the whole process much easier, and this is particularly true when you are planning a wedding far away from home. Your wedding planner will be familiar with all of the best venues on the island and can help you find one that suits your needs. In addition to helping find the location, they can help with many other details as well and might even offer several different affordable Maui wedding packages and Lahaina wedding packages.
